after writing the letter to her sister,
cooking in her kitchen,
under the gaze of marilyn monroe as rendered by andy warhol
yellow hair billowing around her head
the color of sun and sunflowers
next to the painting, a large vase:
daffodils & yellow tulips
cooking with yellow tomatoes & yellow peppers,
preserved lemons (sent to her by rougine in morocco),
extra fatted french butter mixed with dijon mustard spread on crunchy bites of baguette
champagne & yellow cherries
she looks into the night,
as a cloud of fireflies billows around a light like marilyn's hair.
the phone rings
she is surprised to hear the voice of her sister. . .
