the courtyard of a 17th century palazzo
she is growing a garden of pansies, violets & hyacinths,
lilacs, anemone, iris & ornamental kale,
wisteria with gothic, twisted, haunted trunk and branches
delphinium & purple parrot tulips
she has set up her easel in the garden:
a painting of figs, mangosteen, passion fruit, eggplant
and takes a break from painting by writing a note to indiga.
sipping grape juice from a purple and gold moroccan tea glass,
(sent to her by rougine in morocco)
her necklace of glass beads from murano sparkles in the sunlight.
her head turns toward the sound of the phone ringing.
she has an idea it might be her sister. . .
